Shay Mitchell is a Canadian model, actress and an entrepreneur. Her most well-known role was as Emily Fields from the Freeform show Pretty Little Liars. Following her successes in modeling, dancing and acting she began to study acting. Mitchell landed a few commercials, and guest appearances on television series. Her biggest break came when she was filmed as Emily Fields. The critics and the fans alike were impressed with her performance. The popular actress later established herself through screenplays like DreamlandMother's Dayand The possession of Hannah Grace. Her role in the series of psychological thrillers "You" brought her more recognition. In addition to actingShay is also a writer. She wrote Bliss an adult novel, alongside Michaela Blayne. Shay Mitchell was born on April 10, 1987, and grew up on the streets of Ontario, Canada to parents Mark Mitchell and Precious Garcia. Her mother is a Filipina as is her father, and she is of Irish and Scottish roots. Her cousin, Mitchell has the name of Lea Salonga who is a popular musical theater actor and actress. Mitchell went to Rockridge Secondary, before switching to West Vancouver Secondary. Mitchell was already modeling around the world by the time she reached her teens. She travelled to Barcelona, Bangkok, Hong Kong before returning home to Toronto where she began studying acting.
