Nicole Ari Parker (born Nicole Ari Parker) is an American actress who works in television, film and theatre. She's best known as Teri Joe, the flamboyant lawyer on The Showtime show Soul Food. In the years following her marriage to her husband, she was referred to by the name Nikki Kodjoe. As a child, she was a naturally talented actor. At a Maryland contest for students in high school, she took home the award for the best Actress. Following her time in theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company", she received an acting certificate from New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was her debut major role. This was immediately followed by other films like "Boogie Nights Spark", Blue Streak". Soul Food received a lot of applause for her performance. Her TV appearances include Second Time Around and Empire. Prior to that, she appeared in several stage productions. Parker is a politician, who also takes an active role in the fashion world and acting is married Boris Kodjoe. The couple has two children.
Contractor, who was born in Mumbai and lived in Nigeria for seven years, was awash with trips and experiences in the world of culture at very young. She attended boarding school in London between seven and nine, after which her family relocated to Toronto, Canada, where she spent the majority of her early childhood and adulthood. Then, in Toronto, Contractor excelled in academics and became ballet dancer of classical training. The Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in arts), Contractor studied both ballet and theater. Contractor, who had been dancing for nearly 10 years when she started, decided she was ready to focus on acting. As she finished high school with a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she was a theatre student with a dual diploma in sociology and psychology. Contractor was offered the leading part in Pericles following a brief time at University. She was a part of the audition for the part during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. She received rave reviews for her performances in the 92 shows performed in the production. It was also voted the production of the year by Canadian critics in 2002. She was offered the opportunity to join Stratford Conservatory. It allows only eight males and four women to study traditional theatre. Contractor was ecstatically accepted. Contractor's participation in the next season of plays was confirmed, and she was cast in the role of Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
